Emily Doane, MA
Licensed Professional Counselor
Emily considers it a privilege to walk alongside clients as they explore their stories and move toward healing. She believes meaningful change occurs within safe, authentic, and trusting relationships, where individuals feel seen, understood, and empowered to grow.
After earning her Bachelor of Science in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida, Emily served communities throughout Florida in HIV prevention, patient care, and public health initiatives. Through both her professional experience and her own journey in counseling, she developed a passion for helping others navigate pain, adversity, and personal growth. This led her to pursue a Master’s degree in Counseling from Reformed Theological Seminary, equipping her to support individuals as they seek healing, freedom, and deeper self-understanding.
Emily takes a holistic approach to therapy, recognizing the important connection between emotional, physical, relational, and spiritual well-being. She works with adults facing challenges related to trauma, sexuality, relationships, spirituality, anxiety, depression, life transitions, emotional disconnection, and living with HIV. Her goal is to create a therapeutic space where clients can process difficult experiences, develop greater self-awareness, and move toward lasting change.
Emily is trained in EMDR, an evidence-based treatment for trauma, and has completed specialized training in sexual abuse recovery through The Allender Center. Because every client’s story and needs are unique, she tailors her therapeutic approach accordingly, drawing from modalities including talk therapy, somatic awareness, EMDR, and sand tray therapy.
In addition to her private practice work, Emily spent five years counseling adolescents and supporting families through a school-based early intervention program. She also partners with the Florida Department of Health to provide mental health services through the Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program for individuals living with HIV.
Outside of the therapy room, Emily enjoys spending time with friends and family, trying new recipes, exploring the outdoors, hiking, and staying active. To contact Emily directly, call (719)387-9556 or email emily@sunergoscounselingcollective.com.
